Acquisition and Strategy Specialist

This position provides acquisition and strategic expertise in supporting the execution of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Acquisition (SAF/AQ) customer’s mission to cost effectively modernize to deliver capability to the warfighter when needed. This role shall specifically provide support in the development and maintenance of strategic plans, including elements such as mission, vision, goals, objectives, and performance management initiatives aligned with acquisition priorities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support organizational investments in people, technology and capital aligned to the overall strategies
  • Develop and articulate the strategic vision with corresponding mission, business, and performance measures
  • Assist in developing business, acquisition, and improvement strategies in alignment with the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD), Air Force (AF), and other Department of Defense (DoD) Services (ex. Army and Navy) acquisition priorities
  • Support the development, analysis, integration, and implementation of acquisition program planning and assessment; and risk, trade-off, requirements, alternatives, and feasibility studies that advance the goals and objectives of the Air Force and the DoD Acquisition Community
  • Support SAF/AQ, and other AF or DoD organizations in the development of philosophies, methodologies, communications, and resource management as it pertains to acquisition process improvement

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have at least an Active Secret Clearance (DoD preferred) or Tier 3 National Agency Check with Local Agencies (NACLC)
  • 5+ years of current relevant acquisition or strategy experience working at the Pentagon, similar DOD headquarters, or prior Federal Government experience
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in related area
  • Proven ability working successfully in an integrated, collaborative and diverse environment with all levels of military, civilian and contractor staff
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly documentation concerns
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Air Force Acquisition experience
  • Knowledge of Air Force structure inter-dependencies and organizational inter-relationships
  • Working knowledge of Data Analytics or Big Data Methodologies and Techniques
  • LEAN/Six Sigma CPI certification OR working knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) Methodologies and Techniques
  • Task Management software experience, such as TMT or other equivalent software
  • DAWIA Level I-III certification in Acquisition or Program Management or PMP certification
